About Us


Allen has been in the mathematics and STEM instruction field for over 10 years.  After attaining a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Xavier University of Louisiana and an M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University, he has worked as a classroom teacher, interventionist, tutor, curriculum developer, and mentor for various school districts in Texas and Louisiana.  Currently the Assistant Director for Mathematics for the Rice University Office of STEM Engagement, Allen provides professional development and teacher mentoring on STEM topics with a special emphasis on increasing numeracy and inquiry-based learning in mathematics classrooms.



Daniel has been teaching mathematics since 2007 after studying at Texas A&M University, with a special focus on cognitive and developmental Psychology.  He has taught a variety of levels of secondary mathematics, from 7th grade ESL to Pre-AP Algebra 2.  He has been trained under the tutelage of Dr. Jaqueline Sack at the University of Houston Downtown at the art of projected based learning in the Teacher Quality Leadership Program from 2012 through 2014.  After becoming the Teacher of the Year at Killough Middle School (Alief ISD, Houston, TX) in 2015, he transitioned into teaching at Alief Early College High School, and is a curriculum developer for Rice University's R-STEM group, helping to incorporate inquiry based learning into campuses around the Houston area.
